If you have been reading this blog for over a week, you might know that I love Melissa Tash Studios. Melissa has taken pictures of all our children, has given me tons of advice and does our Christmas card and family pictures every year.
She makes us look good when someone (*ahem* possibly me) has something in their teeth, a child has spit up/ random stains on their outfit, torn her backdrop or has screamed for 30 minutes (or maybe that was me with the screaming?).
Seriously, I have so many links of pictures she has taken for our family, it’s kind of ridiculous. Just scroll down to the post below this if you think I’m exaggerating.
The main reason I love Melissa Tash Studios is because I love Melissa. She is a wonderful friend who showed up at the hospital to take pictures of my newborn when my camera died. She is also an awesome mom, wife and for some Melissa trivia- Army veteran. (For more trivia- she’s with her family here sitting in front of her first car!)
She is an amazing person who is fantastic at what she does. Those are my favorite kind of people to be around any time- especially my birthday week!
Besides being a good friend, Melissa is an award winning, professional photographer. She started out skipping classes in high school to go to the dark room, then became a mom with a camera (like many of us) and then made the leap to professional photography. For the past 7 years, Melissa and her husband Jamie have run a wonderful studio in Huntsville, Alabama and also have a fabulous school portrait company- Spoiled Rotten Photography- and have developed that as a franchise opportunity.
You see pictures of my kiddos all the time, but Melissa actually takes pictures of other families, too!

My favorite family pic was taken at my daughter’s one year session. We were out on our family farm under a bridge you have to cross to get to the house… it was June and 100+ degrees that no one was excited about, but it turned out so good

Hmmm…. My favorite family picture. I need some good ones of our family of 4. But I would have to say that my favorite is one of the 4 of us laying on our bed. It is just a fun family picture.

We really need to get a family portrait, now that there’s 4 of us. If not that, then the two kiddos. MLB is NOT one to give a natural smile, so my favorite is one we took right after he turned 4 and right before his P-flap surgery. The photographer (OK, it was not Melissa, but at one of those not-bad-at-all take & bake places) kinda snuck in and got one close up of MLB looking off & up & smiling! He looks so angelic in that photo. Then a day later, he had his surgery & the plastic surgeon decided to “tweek” his lip scar as well. Oh, the boy looks great now, but for months afterwards, he had that angry red line on his upper lip. I felt so blessed to get that shot. And now with the plan of braces & spacers in the coming months, I’d better get another super-sweet photo set QUICK!
And now I am a MTS fan. (Congrats on winning the Restoration Contest. Sweet story!)
I have several favorite family pictures…and Melissa Tash took them all. The first one is hanging above my mantle and is of all 4 of us…first family picture when Garrett was 6 months old.
My other favorite is the one Melissa took of my sweet mom and step-dad with all 4 of her grandsons! This is priceless to me especially now.

I would so love to win this. Hubby has been bugging me for years (YEARS) to get a professional family portrait done for Christmas. And I keep putting it off because… well, I hate having my pic taken. Selfish, I know. But if I won, then I’d be all out of good excuses to not get a family portrait done. So I’d be stuck. But at least I’d have Melissa taking the shots, and she’s so awesomely good at it. Even *I* thought I didn’t look too bad in the church directory photos, and that’s saying something.
